Redwood Curtain and #GivingTuesday
Everyone at Redwood Curtain hopes?your Thanksgiving was filled with family, good food and fun times.
Recently we learned about #GivingTuesday. The day was launched by the non-profit sector as an alternative to the shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and to kick off the holiday giving season. #GivingTuesday is this coming Tuesday, December 2. It’s?a day for generosity, reminding us to give to those in need. It encourages people, charities and businesses to donate time, money and their voice to help a good cause.
At Redwood Curtain we were moved by the concept of #GivingTuesday and looked?for ways to give back to our community as part of the effort. As a theatre company, we are donating tickets to Hospice of Humboldt–to provide hospice patients and their caregivers an opportunity to come to the theatre for an evening of respite and entertainment.
We chose Hospice of Humboldt in loving memory of Pamela Lyall. Pamela was a member of the Redwood Curtain?company since The Cripple of Inishmaan in 2002, appearing in many productions, and participating in all seven years of our annual ZOUNDS!?radio show. Her last production with us was The Language Archive in 2012. Pamela had been fighting cancer for the last six years, and as she faced the end of her life, Hospice of Humboldt was instrumental in her care, and in allowing her die with dignity, in the loving arms of friends, looking out on a garden she loved.
We invite you to join Redwood Curtain for #GivingTuesday–whether it’s volunteering your time, making a financial donation or just spreading the word at the start of this Christmas shopping season. An internet or social media search on the #GivingTuesday hashtag will present you hundreds of ways to participate. In our small corner of the internet, we ask that you consider making a gift to Redwood Curtain Theatre.
Our 2014 season recently ended with the beautiful drama Other Desert Cities. As we re-group and prepare for the 2015 season, we acknowledge the improvements we made to the theatre space during the 2014 season thanks to the financial support of our patrons and donors. We christened a new light board in September and we have a new art gallery display system in the lobby.
Your #GivingTuesday gift will help us continue to develop our facilities plus maintain our high production values for the shows coming up in Season 2015 and beyond. We strive to bring our patrons the highest quality theatre experience, and our artists the best working environment in the area. You can make a secure donation via PayPal using this link.?Thank you for your support of Redwood Curtain.
